Pianist NOBUKO AMEMIYA has been working in vocal and instrumental genres for more than two decades as a collaborative pianist, coach, instructor, and music director.  Her dynamic playing is described as “soaring with a thrilling panache, and then with great warmth and suppleness.”(Valley News)  An enthusiastic advocate of artsongs and new music, she has long explored projects that promote interdisciplinary collaborations and new approaches to the performer-audience relationship, presenting recitals that integrate dance, theatre, and multi-media aspects.  Ms. Amemiya traveled three continents to collaborate with conductors and soloists such as James Conlon, Robert Spano, Seiji Ozawa, James Dunham, Colin Carr, and Jeanette Favaro-Reuter.  With delight, she worked closely with today’s leading composers, such as George Benjamin, John Harbison, Bright Sheng, and George Crumb.  Her music festival appearances include Festival de Música da Figueira da Foz in Portugal, Britten-Pears Aldeburgh Music Festival, Palazzo Ricci Akademie für Musik in Montepulciano, Lotte Lehmann Akademie, and Tanglewood Music Center where she was awarded Tanglewood Prize, acknowledging the “extraordinary commitment of talent and energy.”  As a dedicated vocal coach, she worked for Martina Arroyo Foundation, AIMS in Graz, Opera North, Aspen Music Festival, IIVA-Italy, and New England Conservatory; and her students sing in major opera houses such as Deutsche Oper Berlin, Oper Frankfurt, Metropolitan Opera House, and San Francisco Opera.  Ms. Amemiya currently works for Manhattan School of Music, Copland School of Music-Queens College, Purchase College, Lyric Opera Studio Weimar and Berlin Opera Academy in Germany.
